Emerging Architects Selection & Exhibition
Rolab Studio, an emerging architecture firm, is proud to announce that they were one of the winners of the GEMSS competition. This competition aims to document the practices that contribute to architectural culture, and Rolab Studio was selected among hundreds of applicants where Rolab Studio showcased designs using two innovative fabrication techniques that set them apart from the competition.

The first fabrication technique employed by Rolab Studio was robotic 3D printing with recycled plastic. This process allowed us to design and fabricate a unique piece that demonstrated the potential of using recycled materials in design.
Sheet press
The second technique was sheet press recycling, where they recycled plastic to create panels. Both of these processes were showcased in the exhibition, where they challenged people to think about plastic as a useful resource rather than a single-use material.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in sustainable fabrication methodologies that use recycled materials or minimize waste. This has led to the development of new fabrication techniques, such as sheet press recycling and robotic 3D printing with recycled plastic, which were used by Rolab Studii in their GEMSS exhibition. These innovative approaches demonstrate that there are many ways to approach fabrication, and that sustainability can be an important consideration in the design and production of physical objects.
